Four dedicated singers who share a passion for comic opera, light opera and operetta have decided to fill what they believe is a cultural gap in the area's performance market. Husband and wife teams Tim and Claire Johnson and Ian and Judi Walton have formed Avon Opera in a bid to enourage appreciation for opera in the area. Tony Jones the NODA rep for South Warwickshire said, " Avon Opera ave some extremely talented singers on board and the inaugural concert is going to be very high calibre. (Stratford Herald Dec 2005)

What could be more agreeable than a good natured musical romp through the Vienna of Strauss, Lehar and Mozart especially when it's in a very good cause. Last weekend Avon Opera treated us to just that..... The overwhelming atmosphere was jollity; jollity from the singers, jollity from the audience. In short everyone was having a joly good time. ...... Avon Opera treated us to three scenes from the Marriage of Figaro that not only demonstrated the group's talents and versatility but immediately lifted the music onto a different artistic stratosphere. Every single member of this group deserves a mention. Jane Faulkner for example is a glorious soprano and baritone Ian Walton was excellent in the aria Non piu Andrai. But everyone played a full part in this delightful evening and they were more than ably accompanied by Ann Parsons on the piano. (Stratford Herald Jan 2006)

The recent concerts were extremely well received by the large audiences

I am still receiving very positive comments from people who attended the concert.... and feel privileged that the branch benefited from your inaugural concert.

Just a little note to say thank you for singing at my father's 70th birthday. You and the group made the day into an extra special occasion. I know my dad couldn't believe it and is still talking about it now.
